Meditation
So...
The truth is, as a human being, you already posses a certain ability to heal on a psychic level. It is perhaps the strongest of the psychic abilities we have. What we seek to do then, is increase our personal capacity, technical proficiency and knowledge of what we can effect in this manner. The first thing I am going to recommend is a daily meditation practice.
There are many forms of meditation. In brief though, all meditation is designed to help you concentrate, normally by holding one object or thought as a focal point. Some forms of meditation involve repetitive chanting as the focal point, as the vibrations from the sound in the throat have a numbing and detaching quality to them. What I am going to cover though will not require you to chant, sing or march in circles! Think of these meditation exercises as the precursors to manipulating psychically sensitive fields.
Zen or ‘no-mind’ meditation.
A. Find a comfortable spot that is relatively free of distraction.
B. Make sure you have enough time to practice. 20 min. is generally enough to start, but as you progress you will need to increase the amount of time, possibly up to several hours. (At least at times. If you are doing field work you can get away with less.)
C. Close your eyes. In Zen they do not close their eyes completely, but this keeps them in a higher brainwave state (theta) than you will wish to reach. Make sure you are well rested to prevent falling asleep!
D. Relax your thoughts and allow your mind to empty. If a though intrudes, simply acknowledge it is there, and let is fade away.
E. Keep doing this.
F. After a while of practice you will notice all is going quite. After few weeks or months of quite, if you pay attention to your thoughts you might notice that there are other thoughts and feelings still there. Try to quite them as well.
G. Keep at it. If you are doing this correctly you will notice that you have thoughts at deeper and deeper levels. As you deal with them you will be developing greater synchrony in brain-wave pattern and depth of state.
Open Eye-Fixed Focus Meditation.
A. Find a small object that won’t hurt your eyes to look at for a while, Nothing too bright (such as a candle flame, which is traditional) a shiny piece of metal, plastic or even a rock are all good choices. Don’t worry too much about it. Just pick something that is comfortable to you.
B. Find a quite place that is relatively free of distraction.
C. Set aside a block of time that is at least twenty minutes. You will want to place more time into it as you go on. Once you get the feel for it though you will not need to practice this particular skill every day. Rather you will be practicing it constantly.
D. Look and the object and let your thoughts be only of the object. If other thoughts intrude, simply return your thoughts to the object.
E. Continue practicing daily.
F. After a while you will begin to feel the whole of The object. Likely this will be a light feeling at first then stronger.
G. When you begin to ‘feel’ the object make an effort to focus on this feeling rather than on the act of looking. This feeling is actually an initial sense of the fields of information that make things up.
H. Try to feel finer and finer levels of information as you go.
I. When you can feel the information of any object you focus on at will, try and relax your focus so that you can feel everything around you. Push the boundaries outward.
J. At this point you should stop focusing on any one object and instead use a closed eye meditation on the ‘feeling’ of the information around you. This will allow you to reach deeper mental levels and focus more intently on the specific signals you are receiving.
Both of these types of meditations should be performed daily. In fact, once you feel comfortable with them, I recommend that you do both of them twice a day. I personally do a short set in the morning and a longer set in the evening. This is on top of any psychic or healing work I do during the day. In later sections I will explain some ways of making meditation more effective.
